On my way to the Victoria and Albert Museum I recorded my journey through a range of mediums including photography, observational drawing, sewing, cutting and film. I really enjoyed doing this because it made me observe my surroundings and notice aspects I pass everyday but have never taken the time to appreciate. I feel this task made me realise how art and design is everywhere and I constantly consume it. I wanted to experiment with a variety of materials and techniques to understand new ways of working; I feel my outcomes were successful because they met my aim of experimentation. The most difficult process was an observational drawing of a tube because I was drawing what I could see. However, the people within my view were constantly moving and changing direction which meant I only had a short time to capture the movements. To do this I used quick sketchy lines and minimum detail; I feel the quick lines contribute to the overall movement of the work and adds texture to the drawing.
Overall I feel this task has inspired me to look more because I never know what idea can be created from my surroundings and what I see. I also feel I will continue to record whilst travelling to and from places because it will improve the pace at which I work at.
